Ro80

Frerk Lintz (Folge Magazin) made a video about me and my Ro80 back in 2013. It was supposed to be used in a presentation, but when that didn’t happen, I persuaded him to at least post it on Vimeo. So he did.

    Dear Mr Spiekermann,

I am currently writing a thesis for my graphic design degree entitled “Is a Traditionally Rooted Typographical Proficiency Still Essential for the Contemporary Graphic Designer when Managing Mass Text?” and have been reading your books The Geometry of Type and Stop Stealing Sheep in relation to this. I have put together a survey in order to collect further data.

I have composed a short list of ten questions (which should take roughly five minutes to complete) and I am contacting you in the hopes that you, and possibly some of your colleagues, could fill it in. I would like to try and gain as wide a pool of specialisms as possible, especially from professional backgrounds.

I also wonder whether there would be a possibility of asking you a few questions directly via email?

I greatly appreciate your time. The link to the survey is attached below.

    Best regards,

    Simon Haskew

Do ask per email. A website is hardly the place for a discussion. But anyway, typography is now more important than ever. All interfaces are purely typographic. You klick on words and read words.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t know whether I was being obtuse but I could not find an email address to contact you with. Would you be okay with me possibly quoting your reply in my thesis? Again many thanks for your time

you can quote away. My email address is first name at second name dot com. Lots of students have been able to find that on the usual networks.
