A head full of letters

Apparently there is a trend to make portraits from letters only. I was very surprised to find my head in a list on typography portraits, right above that of Obama. The designer, Thierry Eamon, calls it, not surprisingly, “… a tribute to Erik Spiekermann”. I have taken the liberty to copy this picture and show it here.

Pictures or images made up of letters…. while this is an interesting graphical challenge, the idea is so old and obvious that I wonder if anyone really thinks much of it at all these days.

I’m guessing some think much of it or it wouldn’t have been posted here.

it was posted here because it’s an image of the authour… not because it’s achingly creative.

i think there is irony in there with what looks like it being helvetica to make the portrait?

    It’s not Helvetica, it’s Franklin.

Thanks, Chris. Some people have that filter built in. All they see is Helvetica.

It’s obvious the man is possessed by letters!

  9. Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. However just imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this blog could certainly be one of the best in its field. Excellent blog!
